The NDIS planning process

Now you've thought about your goals and what you want to achieve in the short and long-term. You've met with your NDIA planner and we've devised a strategy that's designed to help you lead a fulfilling life. Here's what happens next.

Receiving your approved NDIS plan

There will probably be a short delay between drafting your plan and getting it approved. Don't worry, though - your planner will tell you how long you can expect to wait.

You can expect your planner to send your plan over to the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). The NDIA reviews your plan and sends it back to your planner once it is approved. Your planner then sends you out a copy in whichever format you requested.

Using your plan

Once you have your plan, now it's time to put everything into action. You'll need to work out a few things before you can start using your plan:

• The budget(s) available and how this affects the services and support you can apply for

• Who will help you use your plan

• Who will help you manage your plan and check that it's working

Remember, you have a lot of power here. It's up to you to decide which kind of services you want and how they should be delivered, although we're always ready and willing to help if need be.

Reviewing your plan

A typical plan lasts around 12 months. Shortly before your plan ends, it's important that you review what worked and what didn't work in the last year. This allows you to make changes and improve your plan for the following 12 months.

We'll contact you for a plan review a couple of weeks before your plan ends. This is a time to reflect on what you've achieved, and what you hope to accomplish in the next year.

Whatever you've achieved, you should be proud of yourself.
